Thank you to Janette Baillie for sharing this.
Good afternoon LEN, you may recall that at our last meeting there was concern expressed about trees being cut down indiscriminately in our community. We formed a committee to look into this issue and engage the public, and we’ve prepared an online petition that’s just been launched at the link below:
https://www.change.org/ProtectOurTrees
Please click on the link and sign the petition, and then forward the link to others for their support. We’ve also put the petition up on our Lakeshore Eco-Network Facebook page, so please share with your friends or groups. If you have any other ideas to get this in circulation, please let us know.
Outside of the cordial attitude of the Huron
Woods community it’s the trees those beatiful
towering trees.
We where always under the impression that permission was required to have a tree cut down therefore I’m very surprised this has been
going on.
I’m surprised that local arborists are ok with providing this service. We hired a local service to remove dead wood from a few oaks on our property and take down two trees that were no longer safe (dead) I was already aware of the rules pertaining to removing trees, but our arborist was more than aware of the rules himself and made sure what was removed would not impact the thriving trees around us. He also would not work on the trees until the fall to avoid spreading oak wilt; something he suspected the government would be enforcing in the future and perhaps something we should also be mindful of in preserving our unique ecosystem.
