One of our members was recently injured in a fall while attempting to navigate around the large rock pile immediately south of Cut 1. The rocks are slippery and there are voids between the rocks that may not be visible through the ice and snow. This section of the lake front should be avoided.

Gypsy Moths We’d like to see a more definitive direction regarding the Gypsy Moth issues. There has to be a way that we can partner with the other communities and negotiate a bulk price better & more equitable than what has been proposed already. Is there a way to have a one time levy on our taxes to cover this? This solution needs to also include the Pinery.
We need to get this direction set and ready to implement otherwise it will be spring before we know it. – Chris & Vicki Holmes
Will the board be coordinating members retainers of Zimmer for Gypsy Moth spraying? Zimmer’s process re waivers seems cumbersome without a coordinated effort to get all the members signed up. – Jed Chinneck
Our understanding is that the aerial spraying provider (Zimmer) has no interest in bulk pricing arrangements and will only contract with individual property owners.
The HWCA Board does not have the resources to coordinate the collection and distribution of waivers within Huron Woods, let alone with adjoining property owners such as Lambton Shores, the Province of Ontario, Beach O’ Pines, etc. We advised Councillor Sageman and Mayor Weber of the difficulty this coordination at the level of property owners and groups in an email dated 2020-08-24.
Restrictive Covenants Could a committee be formed to address the Expiration of our restrictive covenants? We need to learn what our options are well before the expiry year of 2025. – Sharon & Alex Callan
We plan to form a committee to address this issue in Spring 2021.
Tennis Courts Court rules must be enforced so that only paid up members and their guests (accompanying) have access – June and John Ball
The clubhouse grounds, including the tennis courts are clearly posted as private property. As such they are protected by the Ontario Trespass to Property Act.
Trespassing should be reported to the OPP non-emergency number (1 888 310-1122).
From the Ontario Trespass to Property Act: Trespass an offence 2 (1) Every person who is not acting under a right or authority conferred by law and who, (a) without the express permission of the occupier, the proof of which rests on the defendant, (i) enters on premises when entry is prohibited under this Act, or (ii) engages in an activity on premises when the activity is prohibited under this Act; or (b) does not leave the premises immediately after he or she is directed to do so by the occupier of the premises or a person authorized by the occupier, is guilty of an offence and on conviction is liable to a fine of not more than $10,000. R.S.O. 1990, c. T.21, s. 2 (1); 2016, c. 8, Sched. 6, s. 1.
This completes our 2019-2020 Annual General Meeting. We look forward to a more traditional meeting in 2021.
