Coldest Night Of The Year

A little walk for a big problem! By John Smits.

On February 25, I’m walking in the Coldest Night of the Year – a winter fundraiser for people facing homelessness in our community who need our support.

I’m walking 5 Km, on my brand new knee, replaced on Jan 13th. – for maybe an hour or two at most – a little walk, really – but it’s a big deal for the people we’re supporting. Would you support my walk with a personal donation?

Better yet, if you would like to join our team, the Grand Bend Winter Walkers and do your own walk and some fundraising for the cause please go to the home page. CLICK HERE >>> www.cnoy.org

Sign up to walk at the Exeter location then click on Join a team and type in GB Winter Walkers. Call me at 519-238-5215 if you need help.

Funds help support South Huron Connection Centre in Exeter, offering basic needs such as light meals, a shower, washroom and laundry facilities along with support through partnerships with numerous agencies. Funds also go toward the Huron Homelessness Initiative, including the Huron supportive housing worker, shelter for women, children and youth and Heart to Home temporary emergency shelter.

The Huron Perth United Way reports that there are over 200 people facing homelessness in Huron Perth right now. Here is a link for more information
