Big Bin Day PLUS Community Garage Sale and ReStore Pickup
This year we have added 2 new events to help you with disposal of large items. In addition to once again having a Big Bin Day we are organizing a Community Garage Sale and a ReStore pickup. The latter two will take place before the Big Bin Day with the hope that many large items will be either purchased or donated and minimize the need to dispose in the bins. The details follow.
Big Bin Day
• Saturday June 8th – Rain or Shine
• 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
• Huron Woods Clubhouse Parking Lot
This event is for Huron Woods Members only. The Big Bin event is an opportunity for HWCA members to dispose of or recycle large items. The Board has ordered large disposal bins which will be located in the Clubhouse parking lot the morning of Saturday June 8th.
Items that will be accepted include mattresses, box springs, paint cans, dehumidifiers, as well as the usual couches, chairs, household furniture, washers, dryers, scrap lumber, and electronics.
We will not accept refrigerators or freezers. We will also not accept hazardous waste items which includes old propane tanks, gasoline, varsol, any other petroleum based solvents and aerosol cans.
Volunteers are needed to organize, move, lift and sort. Please contact Joe Mayo at joem@hwca.ca if you would like to help out or if you have any questions.
Huron Woods Community Garage Sale
• Saturday June 1st
• 8:00 am to 12:00 pm
• Location: Your driveway
The Garage Sale is an opportunity to make your treasures available for re-use. By holding the Garage Sale the week before the Big Bin Event it gives us an opportunity to reduce the amount going into the bins on the Big Bin day. By selling some of the larger items it will also save you the trouble of having to transport heavy items.
The organizing committee will arrange for advertising so that the broader Grand Bend Community knows about our event.

ReStore Pickup
• Wednesday June 5th
• Time and location: TBD
We have arranged for Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore truck to come to our neighbourhood to pick up gently used items that could be sold in the ReStore in Exeter. The ReStore sells these items in their downtown Exeter store to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity. The pickup is scheduled to take place between the Garage Sale and the Big Bin event.
Timing and location of pickup will depend on response and interest. Closer to the pickup date we will follow up to see who would like to donate. Please contact angela@hwca.ca if you have any questions.
