Dec. 5th Coping with Grief Through the Holiday. Join Social Worker Mickey Gurbin for an opportunity to share and learn about coping strategies to help with your healing 519-238-1556 x 223 Boardroom Grand Bend Area CHC. Program runs on Dec. 5th and again on January 2nd.

Dec 12th   Cardiovascular Health Awareness Program (CHAP – Blood Pressure Clinic): The goal of CHAP is to promote cardiovascular health in the local community and to raise awareness about the importance of blood pressure monitoring. CHAP is a free service. Trained volunteers will help participants measure their blood pressure: The sessions run:

  • 1st Friday of every month, at the Maplewood’s Apartments

(knock on the door to enter)  10am to 12 noon

  • 2nd Wednesday of every month at the West Huron Care Centre

(With Dining for Seniors) 11:30am to 12:30pm

Dec 17th  Community Foot Care Clinic – Service by a specialized RPN in the Salon of the West Huron Care Centre. New clients always accepted. Receive treatment of corns, calluses, ingrown toenails and foot maintenance. No referral is necessary. Appointments available between 9:30am-3:30pm.

Jan 29th  Powerful Tools for the Caregivers Workshop: 6 week, FREE Workshop to help caregivers care for themselves. Tuesdays, 2-4pm, January 29th – March 5th at the Grand Bend CHC (69 Main St E). Learn to; reduce stress, better communicate feelings, increase ability to make tough decisions, locate helpful resources, and take care of them. Register by calling: 1-855-463-5692

Jan 29th  Wellness Together Cooking Group: Join us as Miranda Burgess, Registered Dietitian, leads us in creating delicious and healthy meals. Class begins at 10:30am, and the creations are enjoyed together for lunch. You must call ahead to register and book your spot. Additional Groups will also be held: March 26 & April 30. FREE Seniors Group Exercise Classes! OPEN TO EVERYONE 55+. Do not have to be a patient of the BAFHT or tenant of MW Apartments to attend. Run 48 weeks a year! NO CLASSES ON Dec 7th or Dec 17-28th and Jan 1st.
Tuesdays and Thursdays @ 10:15-11:15am at the Maplewood’s Apartments, Common Room

Wednesdays and Fridays @ 9:30-10:30am at the Bluewater Area Family Health Team, Community Room

Each class is 60 minutes (seated and/or standing) with a warm up, cardio strength training, balance and stretching. We do a 5 minute Falls Prevention education component at the end of each class. The classes are offered for varying levels of abilities and I offer different levels of intensity. The classes are low impact (no jumping) and are suitable for everyone. Clients are reminded to self-monitor throughout the class and work within their abilities and limitations. HOW TO REGISTER: Please call 1-844-482-7800.
