News From the Board

To keep members better informed of Board activity we have resolved to post newsworthy items following each Board meeting.   The following notes are from the recent August meeting….

Tennis Court and Canoe Rack repairs
3 quotes have been received for fence repairs and have been presented to our insurance carrier along with a material list to effect repairs to the canoe racks.   We await instructions from the insurance company to proceed with repairs and appreciate member’s patience.

Topics for the Betterment of the Community
Three spending proposals from the Annual General Meeting were reviewed.  The Board resolved that the Warming Centre proposal, Bar foot rail and Defibulator purchase be deferred for the fiscal year due to the unexpected expense for tree cleanup at the Clubhouse.

Grand Bend Sunplex Community Complex.
Board members reported on their attendance at a recent information session conducted by the Community Improvement Coalition of Grand Bend for a multi use Community Centre.  At present the group is seeking community input.   Members may consult their website at www.grandbendcommuityfoundation.ca to view preliminary details of the proposed facility. The Board is hoping HWCA members will complete the Survey on this website so the organizers will better understand the needs and hopes of the community from such a facility.

Remembrance Day Wreath
A member of the community has made the suggestion that HWCA lay a wreath at the Legion on Remembrance Day. They felt this was a particularly significant year given the 100 year anniversary of the outbreak of World War One.  If anyone in the community has an appropriate wreath and would like to do this on behalf of the Community please advise one of board members.  This would be appreciated by all.

Best regards to all
The HWCA Board
