GRAND BEND STORM RESPONSE – DISASTER RELIEF APPLICATION

Thursday afternoon (August 07), Municipal Council voted to design and issue a form for residents whose private property has been damaged by the tornado. The new form includes a section for tree damage/landscape not covered by insurance. It will help the Municipality to estimate the total amount of damage done to private property in Lambton Shores. This information will be used in applying to the Province for Disaster Relief. There is no guarantee that it will result in any funding, but it will help make the application more likely to succeed. If successful, it will hopefully result in assistance for the cleanup.
The HWCA Board has agreed to assist the Municipality by encouraging every resident who has experienced uninsured tree damage to complete and submit one of the Municipality’s new “Private Property Damage Assessment” forms. To meet the Provincial deadlines, the forms must be completed and submitted by Wednesday August 13. We recognize that the timeline is extremely short and inconvenient, but Municipal Council has established the process within Provincial requirements. The more people who complete the form, the better the chances of a successful Municipal application.
