FYI re Heart & Stroke Canvas taking place in Huron Woods

January 14th, 2014

Dear Community Friends and Families,

As many of you may already know, February is Heart and Stroke Month.  My name is Kerry Carlyle and I live on Pinetree Drive.  Moving to this community was the best decision that my husband Rob and I have ever made.  We are the parents of two boys, 5 and 7, and we have been here for almost three years.  Living in Huron Woods makes us feel at peace, knowing we are surrounded by caring people in a beautiful natural environment.  Something I have truly grown to value and appreciate these recent months.

This past July, I suffered a TIA or mini stroke while driving my car on the 401.  My children and brother were in the car and I am so grateful that our story did not end in tragedy, as so many do.  I have decided to take on this cause as my way of saying thank you, to raise awareness and to give back.  For I feel I have received a gift.  Making a positive difference is what matters.    While I was unable to drive, I was offered so much support from my neighbours.  Their caring and support will never be forgotten.  Ray Srigley, came to call me Miss Daisy, as he became my chauffer on many days my husband was out of town.  Well, I have now encouraged his wife Marilyn to help me canvass our community to raise awareness and funding in support of The Heart and Stroke Foundation and she has kindly agreed.

I am writing to you to let you know that you may see Marilyn or I walking up to your door this coming February.  We recognize that you may already support other worthy community causes but I felt it important to give you a heads up.  In the event you are not home, we may leave a door hanger and if you so choose, you can donate directly at and type in the name listed on the door hanger.  Our goal is to raise $500.00 each, as canvassers in the Huron Woods Community.

I will be canvassing on all of Pinetree Court, Pinetree Crescent, Pinetree Drive and Pinetree Lane.

My friend and neighbour Marilyn will be canvassing Huron Woods Lane, Old River Road and The Trail.

If you would like to contact me via email, please feel free to do so at .

So please, take a moment to consider supporting this worthy cause.  We thank you in advance for your support and caring and look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely yours in health and wellness,

Make Health Last
