Notice – Ban On Open Fires

Lambton Shores establishes Ban on Open Fires

Municipality of Lambton Shores’ Mayor Bill Weber announced today that, with dry conditions across most of the municipality, and on the advice of the Lambton Shores Fire Chiefs, a ban would be placed on all open fires in Lambton Shores, including the large open burns sometimes permitted in the agricultural area.

“Failure to comply with the ban could result in charges under the Ontario Fire Code.” added Weber. He notes that “Our ban does not apply to the Pinery Provincial Park; however, campers are encouraged to check the Park regulations before burning”

Mayor Weber advised that “The ban was initiated not only for the protection of the residents and dwellings, but also our significant natural environments.”

The local Fire Services will monitor weather conditions and the Municipality will advise residents when the ban is lifted.

(Lambton Shores encompasses the Towns of Grand Bend, Forest, Thedford, Arkona, and Bosanquet, which includes the residential and recreational areas of Port Franks and Ipperwash.)
